EASTERDAY ANTIQUES AND FINE ARTS is located at 805 South Railroad Avenue in the Historic District of downtown Opelika, Alabama.  We have been at this location since 1986.  This location is 7 miles from Auburn University, and conveniently located near The Grand National Course of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Lake Martin, West Point Lake, Callaway Gardens, and the Talladega Super Speedway.   Since Opelika is on I-85, it is an easy drive from Atlanta, Mobile, Montgomery, and New Orleans.  Also it is about 100 miles from Birmingham.

From 1974 to 1984, we were in the Illges House Museum in Columbus, Georgia, under the business name of House of Ellenwood.   In 1974 we purchased Ellenwood Antiques which had been at that location for more than 30 years.

EASTERDAY ANTIQUES AND FINE ARTS is owned and operated by Helen and Ken Easterday.  Helen is the principal antiquarian. Their son, Dr. Norman Easterday, takes an active role and assists in many aspects of the business.

Helen has an extensive background in art and antiques.  Her mother, Sadie Springer Chesrown, was a professional artist and a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art.   Mr. and Mrs. Chesrown were extensive collectors of American antiques and art.  Helen graduated with majors in art and mathematics from Ashland University in Ohio.  Prior to her college graduation, she was a protege of Rhea Mansfield Knittle who was one of the founders of and contributors to The Magazine Antiques from its origination in 1926. She served as curator of the Illges House Museum in Columbus, Georgia.  Helen taught art and/or mathematics in Ohio, Texas, New York, and Georgia.

Ken is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Education from Auburn University.   Ken taught mathematics, physical sciences and mathematics education for 42 years in Ohio, Indiana, New York State University at Potsdam, and Auburn University.
